This class is designed to prepare volunteers who work with young or inexperienced Girl Scouts to lead them on their first overnight camping experience.
Participants will gain confidence in their ability to work with girls to plan, implement, and evaluate a trip to a Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan lodge or cabin. Some of the topics that will be covered are: camping progression for Girl Scouts, menu planning, reservation process, kaper charts, basic fire building (for warmth/ambiance/s’mores and safety), food storage, pump safety, sanitation, and outdoor etiquette.
Pre-requisite: Trip Planning
Required for: Leaders or designated outdoor skills resource adults in order to use our cabin and lodge facilities and do basic fire building.
Fee: $10
