Camping with girls in a Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan lodge or cabin is highly recommended before taking this class. Some of the topics that will be covered are advanced cooking methods (over various heat sources), equipment rental, camp/tent care, knots, outdoor etiquette, and health and safety. Some Outdoor Skills 2 sessions will offer an optional overnight.
Pre-Requisites: Troop Trip Planning
Items to Bring:
•Volunteer Education Card
•Pen & Paper
•Water bottle and/or coffee mug
•Pocket knife
•Snack
•Trip Planning packet (completed and printed out)
•Volunteer Essentials
•A GREAT attitude and your beautiful GIRL SCOUT smile!
If you are spending the night at camp for the optional overnight, please bring:
•Bedding: sleeping bag, blankets, pillow, etc. (No bedding is provided)
•Mess kit (eating utensils)
•Toiletries/personal care items
•Flashlight and batteries
•Comfortable walking/hiking shoes
