The Saginaw Bay Community Sailing Association will host this workshop with U.S. Sailing Association certified instructors. You’ll learn how to rig and sail an eight-foot sailboat and learn nautical terms, knot tying and basic water safety. This program is held outdoors and is weather dependent. We will not cancel if it is sprinkling. If the wind is too strong, you may not get on the water but will complete the rest of the workshop. Please bring comfortable clothing, closed-toe or water shoes, towel, sunscreen, beverage and your own lunch.
Note: Adults will be chaperoning, not participating.
Outcome(s): D2, D3, C2, C3, T2

GSHOM’s goal is to offer quality programs to as many girls as possible. At least two adults must accompany every troop/group to an event. In order to serve as many girls as possible, and make sure there is plenty of space to provide the program, troops are asked to keep their adult to girl ratio to the ratio specified in Volunteer Essentials for Events/Programs. Please click here for the link to Safety Activity Checkpoints and refer to page 5.
Troops/groups that register more adults than listed in the ratio listed above may be asked to limit the number of adults to the correct ratio.
